It’s official: Congress at record low - MJ Lee
Congress is closing out a year of dismal approval ratings by sinking to a new low of 11 percent in a new Gallup poll.
The barely double digits job approval rating for Congress breaks the record low since Gallup first began asking the question, “Do you approve or disapprove of the way Congress is handling its job?” since 1974.
Independents were more down about Congress than Republicans or Democrats. In December, independents gave Congress a 7 percent approval rating, while Republicans were at 12 percent and Democrats were at 14 percent.
December’s disapproval rating for Congress, 86 percent, is also the highest in Gallup history, beating the 84 percent-high recorded in August of this year by 2 percentage points.
